Impressively, all four of last year's State Champions successfully defended their titles for a clean sweep of the 2020 State Wrestling Dual Meet Championships at North Point HS in Waldorf.  Headlining the day was Damascus in Class 3A as they won their eighth consecutive title and tenth overall, both state records.  Click on the desired links below for complete State and Region results.

Southern-Garrett began the parade of repeat champions at they bested Paul Laurence Dunbar by a score of 55-21 for the Class 1A crown.  This was Southern-Garrett's third consecutive state duals title and fourth overall.  Stephen Decatur followed in Class 2A by topping Glenelg, 36-30 for their second consecutive state duals crown and third overall.  As stated previously, Damascus brought home the Class 3A championship by defeating Manchester Valley, 42-26.  The Class 4A title match rounded out the day as Springbrook won their second overall and second consecutive state duals crown by outscoring Annapolis, 40-27.  In addition, Manchester Valley took home the tournament sportsmanship award so congratulations, Mavericks!

Our sincere appreciation to the State Wrestling Committee, led by Director Brian Layman, and Dual Meet Director Dave Dodson for their hard work behind the scenes all season long as well on tournament day.  We also cannot say enough about North Point HS and their staff members, led by Athletic Director Andy Shattuck for the fine job they do each year that they have hosted this event.  Thank you for all you do and have done to make this a quality event for the participating teams!
