Swimmers Churn To State Titles

     The State Championship Meets have come to a successful conclusion with the crowning of three new state champions and one repeat champion. In the Class 4A/3A Meet, the Severna Park girls successfully defended their title while the Severna Park boys improved upon last year's second place finish to win this year's title. Two second place finishers in last year's 3A/2A/1A Meet claimed the top spots this year with the Frederick girls and Walkersville boys claiming titles. Click on the links above for complete results.

     The Urbana girls earned 300 points and repeated their runner-up finish to Severna Park's girls who finished out the Class 4A/3A Meet with 331 points.  South River's boys tallied 207 points to earn a runner-up finish to the Class 4A/3A champion Severna Park boys with 245 points.  Eight state meet records were broken with the girls setting five new marks and the boys three.

     North Harford's boys team garnered 259 points for a second place finish in the Class 3A/2A/1A Meet to Walkersville's total of 269.  The closest finish of the day belonged to the 3A/2A/1A girls with Middletown posting a strong second place finish with 233 points, five points shy of the Frederick girls total of 238. One new boys state meet record was set during the course of this meet.

     The MPSSAA is deeply appreciative of the time and effort of the State Swimming Committee as they worked tirelessly running the region and state meets  We would also like to thank our friends at the the University of Maryland - College Park's Campus Recreation Services for their extraordinary cooperation and assistance in holding our state meets at such an exceptional facility.
