Reaching The Pinnacle

The State Finals have come to an exciting and thrilling conclusion at UMBC with a little something for everyone.  Each State Champion has had their challenges this season before reaching the top of their game and a State title for their hard-earned efforts.  Select the links above for complete results and records for each State Final team.  (Updated 8:30 am, 5/25/12)

Title play began with Class 3A/2A on Tuesday, 5/22 as Century held on to top Queen Anne's, 12-9 for their sixth state title.  The Class 2A/1A crown went to Fallston, their second,  who prevailed over Winters Mill, 12-8.  The 6 PM game on Wednesday, 5/23 was postponed until Thursday at 6:30 PM and featured Severna Park successfully defending their state title, while claiming their eleventh overall, against Westminster for the top spot in Class 4A/3A by a score of 13-6.  Severna Park took home a second piece of hardware when they were presented the tournament Sportsmanship Award in addition to the championship trophy.  All of the final games were taped and will be videostreamed on a delayed basis on the internet by College Scout. Go to www.college-scout-video.com to view video and to purchase championship game DVD's.

A debt of gratitude goes out to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Athletic Department and their hard-working staff for the superior cooperation and assistance provided to us prior to and throughout the State Finals.  The MPSSAA would also like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our State Girls' Lacrosse Committee, led by Director Melba Williams, for their sweat equity in directing the region tournaments and staffing the State Finals.  Thanks, too, to the Principal and Athletic Director at each of the three State Semifinal school sites for allowing us to host games at their facilities.  There is no tournament without the efforts of these key individuals and we are fortunate to have each of them on our "team".  Best wishes for an enjoyable off-season and we hope to see everyone back on the turf next spring!
