Pitching Dominant For State Softball Champions

Two new state softball champions and two defending champions have prevailed over their competition as the State Softball Tournament concluded over Memorial Day weekend.  Go inside of the story to read about the results or click on the links above for complete brackets with game by game results for each classification.

In the Class 3A championship game on Friday, Northern-Calvert defended their title by beating C.M.Wright 11-0 in five innings.  The Class 2A Championship game followed with Easton topping North Carroll 6-0 for the Class 2A trophy.  On Saturday in the Class 1A title tilt Allegany topped Perryville 8-2 while Broadneck defended their Class 4A crown against Sherwood in 6 innings by a score of 11-1 and Easton HS took home the annual tournament Sportsmanship Award.

We would like to tip our caps to the State Softball Committee for their effort and assistance throughout the season especially with the region and state tournaments. Likewise, our appreciation goes out to the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks for making the Bachman Park Complex available to us for our state semifinals.  A special thank you to the folks at the University of Maryland Athletic Department for their cooperation and assistance in making the Robert E. Taylor Softball facility available to us for hosting our State Finals. It is the best softball venue in the state, bar none and we are grateful for its usage.

We also need to thank all of the coaches, officials and spectators for the support you give to our tournament.  In addition, we would like to extend our congratulations to each and every participant.  Keep honing those skills and remember that only perfect practice makes perfect!
