North Point Sweeps Girls Golf Challenge

North Point HS fom Charles County won both the 18-hole and the 9-hole Challenge Tournaments at the 4th annual event held at Forest Park Golf Course.  For the second time in four years, McKenzie Cutter won the 18-hole title in convincing fashion by shooting a nifty 75 in very breezy conditions.  Her teammate, freshman Kan Dean Niravanh, brought home a one-stroke victory in the 9-hole event by shooting a 49.      Unlike last years nip and tuck 18-hole affair, McKenzie Cutter outdistanced her nearest competitor, Yasmine Faieq from the Carver Center for Arts and Technology, by eleven strokes as Faieq posted a score of 86.  Third place was taken by North Hagerstown's Becky Gossard who shot an 88.

Coming in on the heels of Kan Dean Niravanh in the 9-hole tournament was Sally Stephens of Urbana HS by virtue of her score of 50.  Rounding out the top three with a 52 was third place finisher Faith Gray from South Carroll.

Many thanks to the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation and Forest Park Golf Course for their fabulous cooperation and generosity.  As has always been the case, PGA Professional Tim Sanders and his staff  did a fantastic job of readying the course and making everyone feel welcomed.  We would also like to thank The Golfers' Charitable Association, Inc. which provided a grant to us for the fourth year in a row to help offset the cost of balls, tees, and training aids purchased for the participants use at this event.  We are indebted to both organizations for helping to make the Girls Golf Challenge a success!
