    MPSSAA Fall and Winter Competition Seasons Postponed

    The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) in consultation with the Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), and the Public School Superintendent Association of Maryland (PSSAM) has decided to postpone the 2020 high school fall and winter competition season during the first semester.     State Board Of Education Approves Request For Waivers To Athletic Regulations!!

    The Maryland State Board of Education supported the request for waiver of interscholastic athletic regulations found in COMAR 13A.06.03 at today's meeting. These regulations, at the request of MPSSAA and local Superintendents of Schools, will give the local school systems (LSS) the flexibility to navigate county/city COVID-19 restrictions and administer interscholastic athletic opportunities based on local conditions.     Latest Update Regarding MPSSAA Interscholastic Athletics!!

    The State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Karen Salmon has announced the availability of member schools to re-engage student-athletes in outdoor participation. Dr. Salmon, in her remarks on June 10, 2020, was indicating that school practices may begin in accordance with the appropriate timeline for high school sports as described in COMAR 13A.06.03, which is currently August 12, 2020.     The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA), after careful review and in consultation with the Maryland State Board of Education and the Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, is officially announcing the cancellation of all MPSSAA events for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This includes the remainder of the 2020 Boys and Girls Basketball State Championships and all spring sports, as well as spring State Championships.
