Pat was a champion for equity and a true pioneer in the field of athletic administration, serving not only MCPS but the MPSSAA in multiple capacities. Pat served as MPSSAA President from 1994-1996 and on many State Tournament Committees, including the MPSSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament.

Mrs. Murray served 43-years in the Baltimore County Public Schools system as a teacher, coach and administrator before retiring in 1991 as the Coordinator of Physical Education and Athletics. Not only did Mildred serve the MPSSAA as the first female President in 1978, she served as the first MPSSAA State Committee Director for Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Field Hockey, Softball, and Girls Lacrosse.

    The MPSSAA is saddened by the news of the passing of Roy Comer on 11/4. Roy served as the Supervisor of Physical Education and Athletics in the Frederick County Public Schools from 1967-1990. Not only did Roy serve this association as President and Treasurer, he was instrumental in the formation of the first state high school football tournament in Maryland and served fourteen years as our State Football Committee Director.

    High School Sports Participation Increases Again In Latest NFHS Survey!!

    The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has just announced that the number of participants in high school sports increased for the 26th consecutive year in 2014‐15 – topping the 7.8 million mark for the first time – according to the annual High School Athletics Participation Survey.     The Class 4A/3A State Swimming meet was finally held on 3/11 and when the waves in the pool subsided, the Walter Johnson boys and Winston Churchill girls came away with the team crowns. Walter Johnson's boys posted their third state title by topping Richard Montgomery 272 - 238. Winston Churchill's girls earned their first state title by scoring 288.5 points to Sherwood's 249.
