Mission Accomplished...State Titles In Hand

Wet weather did not dampen the spirits of the teams that played for state championship titles on Saturday, November 14th at Washington College in Chestertown.  Each of the four classifications were won by schools with a history of appearing in the state tournament on a regular basis.

Severna Park topped Westminster 2-1 in Class 4A for their state best 19th state field hockey title. In Class 1A, Pocomoke defeated Bohemia Manor 5-1 for their 17th state field hockey championship.  Earning a 12th state field hockey crown was Fallston in Class 2A.  Fallston bested Century by a score of 3-2.  Rounding out the day was Hereford pulling down a 6th state field hockey crown in the Class 3A game against James Hubert Blake by posting a 1-0 shutout.

The MPSSAA appreciates the efforts of the State Field Hockey Committee in putting this tournament  together from the first round of the region tournaments to the Finals.  A special thank you to the hosts sites for the tournament semifinals and finals for the use of their facilities and the cooperation of their staffs:  Arundel HS, Broadneck HS, and Washington College.  Congratulations to all of the officials, coaches, and teams that participated in this year's tournament for the exciting play put on display for all of the spectators to appreciate and enjoy.  We hope to see everyone back at the tournament again next year...better than ever!
