This is the fourth year for this highly competitive scholarship program which awards $1,000 toward post-secondary education to each of four female and four male senior student-athletes who attend an MPSSAA school and participate in MPSSAA recognized sports.  The student-athletes who were recognized are:

Connor Arnone - Williamsport HS            Rachel Davis - Annapolis HS
Corey Koller – Southern-AA HS              Marissa Friedman – Owings Mills HS
Daniel Shear - Pikesville HS                   Selena Guerrero-Martin - Balto. Polytechnic Institute

Jordan Wool – Snow Hill HS                   Cara McLaughlin - Leonardtown HS

The guest speaker for this year's luncheon was Deborah Phelps. Debbie is Principal of Windsor Mill Middle School in Baltimore County and mother of three, including World Champion Michael Phelps.  Debbie spoke to the audience about having passion for what they do, practicing what it is that they want to do in order to be the best, focusing on their performance in whatever they do, and ultimately having pride in what they do. Debbie peppered her talk with personal stories and insights on family, life, and competition.

The MPSSAA wishes to thank the Allstate Corporation for their support and for making this scholarship program possible.  The Scholar-Athlete Committee also deserves recognition for their time and effort in planning the luncheon and facilitating the selection process of the scholarship recipients.  Thanks too, to the Baltimore Ravens and the Maryland Stadium Authority for the use of Raven Stadium as our luncheon site and making this event even more special.
