Female Golfers Tune Up For States

The 3rd annual MPSSAA Girl's Golf Challenge came to a successful conclusion on Saturday 10/3 under perfect weather conditions at cozy Forest Park Golf Course in Baltimore. Victoria Frasco from South Carroll HS won the 9-hole Challenge event with a score of 44 while Karishma Thiagaraj of Richard Montgomery HS turned in a score of 79 in the 18-hole Championship Flight. (updated 10/26/09)

The Championship flight was nip and tuck for the entire 18 holes as McKenzie Cutter, last year's winner from North Point HS, posted an 80 for second place honors and Gabriella Sinkovic of Bowie HS scored an 81 to garner third place.  In the 9-hole Challenge, only one stroke separated second and third place with Erin Gibbons of Urbana HS edging out Amber Peed from North Point HS 49 - 50.

The MPSSAA wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation and Forest Park Golf Course, especially head pro Tim Sanders, for the use of their facilities and superior hospitality. We hope to have an even larger field of players next year.  Keep practicing ladies...and try to get a friend to learn the game with you!
