At the end of tournament play on Monday, 11/2 when the final strokes were all added up and one playoff completed, Winston Churchill HS set a new state record for team score with a 572, 24 strokes better than the old record which they also held!   Links to complete results are posted below, thanks to our friends at County Sports Zone.

In Class 4A/3A, Winston Churchill's two day record-setting total of 572 brought home their 13th overall state team golf title.  In Class 2A/1A, Marriotts Ridge hoisted the champion trophy for the fourth consecutive year as they scored 600 over the two days of competition.  Wootton's Delaney Shah scored a two stroke victory over Churchill's Lena Capoccia, 142-144 for the Girls Individual State title.   Meanwhile, the Boys Individual State title had to go to a two hole playoff before Churchill's Adam Gray prevailed over Whitman's Graham Hutchinson.  Both boys shot 139 over the two days with Gray going birdie/par while Hutchinson went birdie/bogey on the playoff holes .

The MPSSAA would like to thank golf pro Jeff Maynor and his staff at the University of Maryland-College Park golf course for their hospitality and expert assistance in hosting our tournament.  Thanks too to our State Golf Committee, especially director Eric Michael, for their tireless efforts not only during the three days of the tournament but throughout the season and district tourneys leading up to States.   Practice hard and we will see you out on the course again next year!!
