Four new state baseball champions have prevailed over their competition as the State Baseball Tournament concluded over Memorial Day weekend.  Go inside of the story to read about the results or click on the links above for complete brackets with game by game results for each classification.

In a nip and tuck Class 4A championship game played on Friday night, Sherwood squeezed by Chesapeake-AA by a score of 2-1. Then on Saturday, St. Michael's took the Class 1A title by defeating Clear Spring 4-0.  In the Class 2A title game North Hagerstown took 9 innings to overcome Parkside by a 10-7 margin.  In the final game of the tournament, C.M.Wright battled Huntingtown for a 4-0 victory and the 3A title while Clear Spring took home the tournament Sportsmanship Award.

We would like to tip our caps to the State Baseball Committee for their effort and assistance throughout the season especially with the region and state tournaments. Likewise, our appreciation goes out to those individuals who make the baseball facilities at Arundel HS, McCurdy Field, Joe Cannon Stadium, and Shipley Field at the University of Maryland available to us.  A special thank you to the folks at Ripken Stadium for their cooperation and assistance in making our State Finals the special experience that it is.

We also need to thank all of the coaches, officials and spectators for the support you give to our tournament.  In addition, we would like to extend our congratulations to each and every participant.  Keep honing those skills and remember that only perfect practice makes perfect!
