Update #2 On The Current Status Of Public High School Interscholastic Athletics

In accordance with the actions of the State Superintendent of Schools and the Maryland State Board of Education this week, all interscholastic athletic team gatherings, activities, practices, and contests are suspended until further notice.

Boys & Girls State Basketball Tournaments Contingency Plan Announced!!

The MPSSAA has just released the following contingency plan for the Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships which are scheduled to be played on Thursday, March 12th through Saturday, March 14th with the following modifications. Unfortunately, recent developments have forced all entities to determine the events will be held in a closed gym format, but will remain at Towson University and the University of Maryland-College Park. The State Wrestling Tournament is all wrapped up after three days of top-notch wrestling at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro. The first fourteen girls state champions were crowned in the inaugural girls tournament while two three-time state champs and four two-time state champs highlighted the 4A/3A and 2A/1A tournaments. All of the region wrestling tournaments were successfully completed this weekend as the top four place winners in each weight class of the coed divisions and the top two winners in each weight class of the girls division have qualified to compete for a state title at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro on Thursday, 3/5 through Saturday, 3/7. The State Swimming and Diving Championships came to another impressive conclusion at the Eppley Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Maryland - College Park as four first-time champs were crowned in Boys and Girls Diving and in Class 4A/3A Swimming. The Poolesville Boys and Girls continued their dominance in Class 3A/2A/1A Swimming as they both successfully defended their titles. State Indoor Track & Field Champions Finish Strong To Bring Home 2020 Titles!!

The Indoor Track and Field State Championships came to a thrilling conclusion at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex as four teams successfully defended their 2019 titles, two teams hoisted the championship trophy for the first time, and one school swept both the boys and girls crowns. Defending Champions Sweep The 2020 State Wrestling Dual Meet Titles!!

Impressively, all four of last year's State Champions successfully defended their titles for a clean sweep of the 2020 State Wrestling Dual Meet Championships at North Point HS in Waldorf. Headlining the day was Damascus in Class 3A as they won their eighth consecutive title and tenth overall, both state records.
