The 2017 State Cross Country Championships successfully concluded on Saturday afternoon amid unseasonably cold temperatures that the runners seemed to embrace throughout each race.  Several top ten times were set on the Hereford HS course and six teams successfully defended their 2016 titles.  Select the links below for a summary of the State meet results as well as complete results by classification and gender and region meet results as well.

For the second year in a row, sportsmanship awards were presented to one school in each classification that demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for the sport of cross country as voted on by other coaches.  Recipients were Gaithersburg (4A), Reservoir (3A), Hereford (2A), and Boonsboro (1A).

Our deepest appreciation to the State Cross Country Committee led by Director Michael Sye, for their tireless efforts with not only the State Championships but the region meets as well.  Our thanks to each of the host sites and meet directors for all 16 region meets.  We also cannot thank the staff and administration at Hereford HS enough, especially Athletic Director Mike Kalisz and his Athletic Department staff for their extraordinary effort in hosting the State meets.  Congratulations to all of the participants, coaches, and officials on a job well done.  We look forward to seeing everyone on the cross country trails next year!
