2016 Indoor Track & Field Region Meets Results

The twelve 2016 Region meets for Indoor Track and Field concluded on Wednesday, 2/10. Qualifying teams and individuals from the region meets now move on to compete in the State Championship meets scheduled for Monday, February 15th and Tuesday, February 16th at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover. Spalding Chosen As The New Official State Volleyball!!

The MPSSAA Executive Council voted at last week's meeting to accept the contract proposal from Spalding as the official state volleyball beginning with the Fall, 2016 season and running through the Fall, 2020 season. The Spalding VB5 ball with red, white, and black panels will be required for region and state tournament play and highly recommended for play throughout the regular season.

Change To COMAR Regulations Regarding Swim Meet Scheduling Becomes Effective 1/7/16!!

The Maryland State Board of Education has approved the adoption of an amendment to the COMAR regulations regarding swimming that becomes effective on 1/7/16 for the current season. The amendment will permit swim teams to compete in meets on consecutive days and schedule three meets in a week one time during the regular season.

Jason Bursick Named As MPSSAA Assistant Director!!

The Maryland State Board of Education has appointed Mr. Jason Bursick as the new Assistant Director of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA). Jason becomes the third person to hold the assistant director's position and will begin working in his new position on January 6th.

2015 State Football Champions Are Undeniable In Title Quest!!

The State Finals wrapped up the 2015 fall sports season at M&T Bank Stadium as Wise won a second state title in Class 4A, Damascus attained an 8th state crown in Class 3A, Class 2A Patuxent won their first state title, Fort Hill pulled off a "three-peat" for their 5th state championship in Class 1A, and Howard was awarded the John Cox Sportsmanship Award. State Volleyball Champions Pound Their Way To A State Title!!

The 2015 State Volleyball champions pounded their way to state titles as Smithsburg took the Class 1A crown (their 11th), Northern-Calvert won the 3A title (their 10th), Rising Sun attained the 2A championship (their 3rd), and Northwest hoisted the State Champion trophy for the first time in winning Class 4A. Perry Hall claimed their first state boys soccer title in Class 4A while Oakdale (Class 3A) and North Carroll (1A) each won their second state crown and Middletown (2A) attained their fourth championship. The 2015 State Field Hockey Finals wrapped up Washington College on Saturday on a crisp fall day...ideal hockey weather! Class 2A kicked things off as Hereford posted their 8th state title. Bel Air followed by grabbing their first state title in 38 years and 2nd overall in Class 3A. A state leading 23rd hockey title was hauled in by Class 4A Severna Park while Class 1A Pocomoke attained their 19th crown.
