Winning is never easy as was the case with the State Wrestling Championships at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro this weekend. Team champs and individual champs had to grind out methodical wins over tough opponents throughout the weekend. All eight region wrestling tournaments were completed yesterday and now the top four place winners in each weight class from each of the eight regions have qualified to compete for a state title at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro on Friday, 3/3 and Saturday, 3/4. The State Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up yesterday as familiar teams took home the top hardware along with one first-timer. Ten new State meet records were set in the Class 4A/3A morning meet and another new State meet record was set in the afternoon at the Class 3A/2A/1A meet. 2017 Region Swimming & Diving Meet Results

All of the diving and swimming region meets are now complete as qualifying swimmers and divers head into this weekend's State Championships at the sparkling Eppley Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Maryland - College Park. Diving competitions are on Friday, 2/24 at 5 PM and the Swimming competitions will take place on Saturday, 2/25 with Class 4A/3A competing at 9:30 AM and Class 3A/2A/1A competing at 4 PM. The 2017 Region meets for Indoor Track and Field have concluded as scheduled and now the qualifying teams and individuals from these meets will move on to compete in the State Championship meets on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover. 2017 State Dual Wrestling Champions Successfully Defend Last Year's Titles!!

The 2017 State Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament has come to another exciting conclusion as both of last year's champions were successful in the defense of their crowns. In Class 2A/1A, Middletown won their 2nd overall and consecutive title while in Class 4A/3A, Damascus continued their impressive run of 5 consecutive state titles and 7th overall.
