    Nationwide Participation In High School Sports Nears The 8 Million Mark!!

    The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has just announced that the number of participants in high school sports increased for the 28th consecutive year in 2016‐17 – drawing close to the 8 million mark – according to the annual High School Athletics Participation Survey (see link inside of story). Maryland's participation numbers also experienced an increase last year to 112,414 student-athletes.

    The State Lacrosse Championships came to a thrilling close last night with the Severna Park Boys and Churchill Boys battling until the last second as Severna Park netted a buzzer-beater to prevail 7-6 for their 7th state crown. Additional congratulations go to our 3 first-time state champions. The Northern-Calvert Boys edged Glenelg, 5-4 and the boys from Southern-AA prevailed over South Carroll, 20-7. On the girls side, Bel Air nipped Severna Park in another thriller, 10-9.
