2018 Minds In Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Winners Honored!!

The fourteen winners of the 2018 Minds In Motion Scholarship sponsored by the Allstate Foundation were honored today at a luncheon in the Baltimore Ravens' locker room at M&T Bank Stadium. The celebration was highlighted by this year's guest speaker Josh Carroll, the Maryland State Teacher of the Year. Also providing pearls of wisdom for this year's class of recipients was 2017 scholarship recipient Katie Zehner from Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS and Yale University.

The State Championship meets came to another successful conclusion at a steamy Morgan State University on Saturday after three exciting days of competition. Three schools successfully defended last year's state titles, three schools won first time state crowns, and two more added to previously won state championships. The State Lacrosse Finals wrapped up Thursday night bringing the first year of four classifications to a successful conclusion. Four schools won first-time titles, two schools won for the second time, and two more schools are regulars to the title stage and added more hardware to their trophy cases. Clarence Johnson Honored With NFHS State Award For Outstanding Service!!

Last night at the annual District 8 Dinner Meeting, Executive Director Andy Warner presented the NFHS State Award for Outstanding Service to Clarence Johnson, the current Executive Director of the Bayside Conference in recognition of his nearly 50 years of service to the student-athletes of the Maryland. It was certainly appropriate that the presentation take place in front of so many friends, colleagues, administrators, and coaches associated with the Bayside Conference and District 8!
