Three glorious days of running, jumping, throwing and great camaraderie between competing student-athletes came to an energetic close at Morgan State on Saturday as two teams successfully defended their 2018 titles and three won a state crown for the first time. The 2019 State Tennis Tournament came to an historic close at the Wilde Lake Tennis Center on Saturday with the first ever crowning of State Champions in each of the four classifications and in all five events. INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Amanda Merrell, a student-athlete at Huntingtown (Maryland) High School, has been selected the 2019 national recipient of the “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” was created by the NFHS to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.
