MPSSAA Celebrates State Coaches of the Year

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) congratulates the thirty-three high school coaches from across Maryland that have been selected as 2020-21 National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches of the Year.

State Board Approves MPSSAA Proposed COMAR Amendments

The Maryland State Board of Education approved at their December 7, 2021, meeting proposed amendments by the MPSSAA to the COMAR 13A.06.03 interscholastic athletic regulations. The approved regulations will take effect on December 27, 2021.

MPSSAA Volleyball Championship Finals Set For Play

2021 State Golf Championships Final Results

The 2021 MPSSAA Golf Championships concluded on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the University of Maryland Golf Course. The Championship field on the final day included 104 golfers from 51 schools.

MPSSAA 2021 Football Regular Season Final Point Standings

The MPSSAA State Football point standings for 2021 are now available. These standings reflect the most up-to-date results including official forfeits, updates on misreported scores, and any other corrections that may impact the standings.

MPSSAA Executive Council Takes Steps to Ensure Playoff Opportunities

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) on Friday, September 24, 2021 approved a proposal to alleviate issues associated with COVID-19 quarantines, loss of football contests, and to provide an equitable opportunity for all schools to compete in the 2021 Football State Championships. The proposal will allow all 182-member schools playing football to enter the 2021 state tournament.

State Board of Education Approves MPSSAA Waiver Requests for 2021-2022 Academic Year

The Maryland State Board of Education at their August 24, 2021 meeting supported the request for waiver of interscholastic athletic regulations found in COMAR 13A.06.03. These regulations, at the request of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) and local Superintendent of Schools, will give the local school systems (LSS) the flexibility to navigate county COVID-19 restrictions and administer interscholastic athletic opportunities based on local conditions.

Fall Sports Start Wednesday, August 11

The official first practice date for fall sports, and the first play date for Golf begin on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. The date marks the first time for some schools since starting fall practice in the August, 2019.
