The teams who made it to the 2023 Dual Meet State Championships, hosted by North Point High School, took to the mats on February 11th.  The day of grappling gave us four champions, with South River, Stephen Decatur, and South Carroll hoisting the championship trophy in similar fashion just the year before.

  • This is Decatur’s fourth title in a row and fifth overall.  South River and South Carroll are 2 for 3 after making it to the final bout.
  • Both South Carroll and Decatur successfully defended their titles after a coaching change.  South Carroll previously won with Matt Thomas and is led this season by Anthony Winfield.  Decatur, coached by Josh August, had won their previous streak of three titles with Todd Martinek.
  • Linganore coach Ben Arneson led his team to their school’s first dual meet championship.  He had previously coached Urbana to their first championship back in 2012.
