The State Championship meets came to another successful conclusion at a steamy Morgan State University on Saturday after three exciting days of competition.  Three schools successfully defended last year's state titles, three schools won first time state crowns, and two more added to previously won state championships.  Select the links below to view a summary of the team results and the complete State meet results for the boys and the girls in each event and classification.

Northwest swept the Boys and Girls titles in Class 4A.  This was the fourth overall Boys state title and third consecutive while the Girls won for the second time.  In Class 3A, the South Hagerstown Boys brought home their first ever state title while the Frederick Girls defended last year's title for their eighth overall state championship.  Two first timers won in Class 2A  with the Oakdale Boys and Harford Technical Girls doing the honors.  The Lackey Girls were successful in defending their 2017 Class 1A title for the third consecutive time and third overall while the Boys 1A title went to Largo who won their third state crown but first in 33 years.  Don't forget that you can relive every exciting run, jump, and throw from Saturday with unlimited free viewing on-demand and DVD purchases on the NFHS Network.

The MPSSAA appreciates the hard work and flexibility of our schools and athletic departments in completing the region meets on time in spite of an overabundance of rain.  Everyone's spirit of cooperation allowed the State Champinships to take place as scheduled and we thank you!  It also goes without saying how indebted we are to State Track and Field Committee members, State Committee Director Beth Shook, and the athletic department and staff at Morgan State University for the use of Hughes Stadium to hold our event.  We immensely appreciate the cooperation and assistance we receive in holding an event of this magnitude.  Hope to see everyone back on the track next spring!!
