The 2019 State Softball Finals came to a thrilling and loud conclusion at the University of Maryland Softball Stadium on the College Park on Saturday night putting an exclamation point on the official end of the spring postseason.  Three teams successfully defended last year's titles and one new champion returned to the winner's circle.  Select the desired links below for the complete brackets for each classification and a summary of State Final and Semifinal results.

Saturday's play begin with the Class 2A title tilt as La Plata defended their 2018 title over Queen Anne's by a score of 9-0 for their third state championship.  In the Class 1A game, Bohemia Manor won their third consecutive state crown and sixth overall by defeating Sparrows Point, 8-0.  The hard fought Class 3A battle was won by Huntingtown, who defended last year's crown by a score of  2-0 over Chesapeake-AA for their fifth title overall.  In the final game of the spring season across the state, Glen Burnie and Sherwood went back and forth in a war of wills before Sherwood prevailed, 8-7 for the Class 4A championship, their sixth state title.  Another 4A school, Walt Whitman, was awarded the Eugene G. Robertson Tournament Sportsmanship Award prior to the awards ceremony at the final game. This was Whitman's first ever tournament appearance in softball, so congratulations on making a great first impression!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout as we battled the usual weather elements.  We would like to acknowledge our State Semifinal site at Bachman Softball Complex and their staff for their hard work, cooperation, and assistance in hosting eight games with great crowds.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Softball Committee, especially Director Lynn Pitonzo, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of preparation, planning, and work leading up to this culminating event.  A special shout out to the folks at the University of Maryland College Park Softball Stadium and their staff for providing us with such a great softball venue for all to enjoy.  We appreciate the great cooperation, hospitality, and support we receive to make this event happen.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support.  We hope to see you on the diamond again next Spring!
