The play on the turf was as crisp as the air at Paint Branch HS as the State Lacrosse Championships came to another successful conclusion with five teams successfully defending their 2018 titles, one first time champion, and a couple of "regulars" to the championship stage.  Don't forget to relive every exciting moment of these games with unlimited free on-demand viewing and DVD purchases, usually within 72 hours of the original event on the NFHS Network.  Click on the links below to view the complete brackets for each gender, classification, and region and a summary of the State Semifinal and Final results.

The Girls Class 1A title was successfully defended by the team from Patterson Mill for their second crown while the Patterson Mill Boys also successfuly defended last year's title and took home the 1A Championship trophy for the second time.  Glenelg's Boys won their 4th state crown in Class 2A and the South Carroll Girls hoisted the champion trophy for the first time.  In Class 3A, Westminster hauled in both the Boys and Girls titles.  This was the second overall and second consecutive for the Girls and the third crown for the Boys who garnered the tournament Sportsmanship Award a well.  Severna Park also pulled off a double win in the Boys an Girls Class 4A title games with the Boys winning their ninth overall title and fourth consecutive and the Girls winning the State crown for an impressive fourteenth time.  In addition, the Girls tournament Sportsmanship Award was won by Boonsboro, so additional kudos to them!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout as we continue to battle weather elements this season.  We would like to acknowledge our State Semifinal host sites, Gaithersburg, Mount Hebron, Northeast-AA, and Havre de Grace High Schools and their athletic department staffs, for another high quality job.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Lacrosse Committees, especially Directors Ken Zorbach and Melba Williams, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of planning leading up to this culminating event. A special shout out to Paint Branch HS, Principal Dr. Myriam A. Yarbrough, Athletic Director Heather Podosek, site director Assistant Athletic Director Bryan Walker, and the numerous Montgomery County Athletic Directors and staff for pitching in to provide a replacement site for our State Finals.  The cooperation, hospitality, and support we received to make this event happen during such a busy week for the school was exceptional, bar none.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support.  We hope to see you again next Spring!
