Celebrating Coach Butch Waller

Wicomico High and Wicomico Public Schools to Honor Coach Butch Waller for 60 Years of Coaching Excellence
Salisbury, Maryland — Wicomico High School will celebrate a remarkable milestone in high school athletics as Coach Butch Waller is honored for 60 years of coaching, marking the final season of his legendary career at Wi-Hi, and as the winningest boys basketball coach in Maryland Public Schools history.
The celebration will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, following the conclusion of the Wi-Hi's varsity basketball game against North Caroline High. Former players, alumni, families, and community members are invited to attend and take part in recognizing Coach Waller’s decades-long impact on student-athletes and the Wi-Hi community.
Game action will begin earlier in the day with the Junior Varsity game at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Varsity game at 12:00 p.m. The postgame ceremony will honor Coach Waller’s extraordinary commitment, leadership, and legacy both on and off the court.
Over six decades, Coach Waller has influenced generations of players, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship that extend far beyond basketball. His dedication has left a lasting mark on Wi-Hi athletics and the countless individuals he has mentored throughout his career.
