This year's State Baseball Finals had every element on display for die-hard fans to enjoy: great pitching, timely hitting, daring base running, and dazzling defensive plays.  When the dust finally settled at Ripken Stadium, four brand new State Champions were crowned.  Click on the links below for the complete brackets for each classification and a summary of the State Final and Semifinal results.

Friday night's Class 4A Final had to go two extra frames until Old Mill prevailed over Sherwood, 4-3 for their fourth state crown.  Sherwood did garner the Paul Fahrner Tournament Sportsmanship Award, so hats off to them for the classy way they handled themselves in a tough situation.  Saturday's Class 1A title tilt also went nine innings before Colonel Richardson defeated McDonough, 6-0 for their second state championship.  La Plata dueled with Middletown in Class 2A and won by a score of 4-2 as they hoisted the champions trophy for a third time.  The baseball season concluded with the Class 3A battle won by James M. Bennett 5-3 over C. Milton Wright.  This was the fourth state crown for Bennett.

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout as we battled the usual weather elements.  We would like to acknowledge our State Semifinal host sites, Shirley Povich Field, Joe Cannon Stadium, Montgomery Blair HS, McCurdy Field and their staffs for providing these great playoff venues.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Baseball Committee, especially Director Jason Woodward, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of preparation, planning, and work leading up to this culminating event.  A special shout out to the folks at Ripken Stadium and their staff for providing us with such a great baseball venue for all to enjoy.  We appreciate the great cooperation, hospitality, and support we receive to make this event happen.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support.  We hope to see you on the diamond again next Spring!
