2019 State Tennis Tournament Crowns First Ever Champions In Each Classification!!

     The 2019 State Tennis Tournament came to an historic close at the Wilde Lake Tennis Center on Saturday with the first ever crowning of State Champions in each of the four classifications and in all five events.  Congratulations to all of the participants and supportive fans for making this such a special event.  Select the links below to view a summary of the championship results, the complete brackets for each classification and event, along with region tournament results.

     Winning the Class 4A state crown was Walt Whitman over Broadneck, 49-39.  Centennial prevailed over Huntingtown to take home the Class 3A trophy, 62-52.  In Class 2A, Marriotts Ridge held off Hereford, 55-48 and in the closest result of the day, Sparrows Point edged Frederick Douglass-PG to win the Class 1A title, 39-38.

     The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's expanded tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout this initial year.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Tennis Committee, especially Director Jean Vanderpool, Entry/Results Coordinator Chip Boling, and each of the region tournament directors for a great job of planning and preparation leading up to this culminating event.  A special shout out to the Wilde Lake Tennis Center and their staff for their first class cooperation, hospitality, and support to make this such a classy event.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support.  We hope to see you again next Spring!
