Every one of the 2017 State Football Finals were all hard fought, tough contests with some results in doubt up until the last seconds ticked off of the clock.  Teams made one clutch play after another in games that seesawed back and forth in thrilling, and at the same time agonizing, fashion.  Click on the links below for the complete results for each classification and official game statistics.  Don't forget to relive every exciting moment with unlimited free viewing and DVD purchases, which are available under normal circumstances within days of the original games on the NFHS Network

Play began Thursday with a tight, thrilling battle as Linganore edged Milford Mill Academy for the Class 3A title by a score of 28-27, their sixth state crown.  The Class 4A tilt followed suit on Friday as Quince Orchard and Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. went nose to nose for three quarters before Wise pulled ahead for the three-peat and their fourth state championship by a score of 38-20.  On Saturday, Class 1A led off as Dunbar nipped defending champ Fort Hill, 30-26 in a back and forth game to post their tenth state title.  The day ended with Class 2A as Damascus also completed a three-peat in their defeat of Gwynn Park 31-7, for their tenth state crown.  Also of note is the recipient of the John Cox Tournament Sportsmanship Award was the Pumas of Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. HS.  Well done, gentlemen!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Football Committee, especially Committee Director Mike Calhoun, Tournament Director Ryan Hines, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of planning leading up to this culminating event.  Once again, we cannot thank the United States Naval Academy and their Athletic Department for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide first class facilities for our football championships.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support.  Hope to see you at our State Capital again next year!
