The State Soccer Finals have come to a nail-biting conclusion as goals were hard to come by on the final day of play.  Three teams won their first state titles and one school won both a boys and girls crown while two others successfully defended last year's championships.  Click on the links below to view a summary of the State Finals results and the complete brackets for each gender and classification.

The River Hill Girls (2A) started play on Wednesday by successfully defending their 2016 title for their twelfth overall and were followed by the Eastern Technical Boys winning their first ever state title.  Friday's Class 1A titles both went to Sparrows Point as the Girls won for the fifth time (all consecutive) and the Boys also won their fifth title.  On Saturday, Linganore's Girls (3A) had to go to penalty kicks before prevailing for their first state crown as did the C. Milton Wright Boys (3A) for their first ever state championship.  The Broadneck Girls (4A) won in regulation as they earned their second state title and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Boys (4A) also won in regulation to hoist the championship trophy for the sixth time.  Additional kudos to the River Hill Girls and Great Mills Boys for being the recipients of the Steve Malone Tournament Sportsmanship Award.  Well done!

Don't forget that unlimited free viewing and DVD purchases will be available, under normal circumstances, within days of the original contests on the NFHS Network.  The MPSSAA would like to thank the State Soccer Committees, led by Bob Sheffler and Marianne Shultz, for their invaluable time and effort in running the State Semifinals and Finals.  Our appreciation also goes out to the schools and athletic departments that took the extra time and made the extra effort to host State Semifinals at Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr., Linganore, River Hill, and Northeast-AA High Schools.  Another big thank you to Loyola University for allowing us to hold our State Finals at their great facility on the hill.  Best wishes to all for a healthy and happy holiday season!!
