The State Wrestling Tournament's "farewell to Cole" was highlighted by Damascus HS winning the Class 4A/3A Team title, their fourth and South Carroll HS successfully defending their Class 2A/1A crown, their second overall.  Click on the desired link below for complete final individual and team results.  Don't forget that you can relive each of Monday's exciting matches on-demand or purchase DVDs 72 hours after the event at the NFHS Network

Noteworthy performances by individuals in Class 4A/3A included Centennial's Austin Kraisser and Meade's Travis Chidebe winning their second state titles, while Marty Margolis of LaPlata posted his third state crown.  In Class 2A/1A, Charlie Perella of Catoctin and Adam Martz of Mountain Ridge became three-time state champs.  Joining the ranks of the two-time champs were Steven Smith of Kent Island and Jaron Smith of Oakland Mills.

Our thanks again to all of the folks behind the scenes that worked to make the revised tournament schedule work out so smoothly and to the University of Maryland's Campus Recreation Services for working with us to reschedule this event.  We appreciate all eight of the region tournament directors and site directors for managing and hosting their respective tournaments.  Thanks, too, to the administration and staff members of those schools for having these events.

A most hearty thank you and sincere appreciation to the members of the State Wrestling Committee, led by Dr. Duke Beattie, for their tireless efforts throughout the tournament.  You will not see a more visible or harder working state committee than this one come tournament time.  Enjoy the off- season and come back refreshed and ready next winter!
