MPSSAA Sending Six to National Student Leadership Conference

The MPSSAA is pleased to announce its inaugural participation in the NFHS Student Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Ind. The MPSSAA will be sending six student delegates to participate in the conference from July 16-19. Students will attend workshops, assist in a community service project and develop action plans for the MPSSAA and their respective schools.
The MPSSAA delegates include Courtney Jarvis of Westlake HS, Joshua Yates of North East HS, Alex Eckard of Linganore HS, Martha Jacobs of Baltimore Polytechnic HS, Paige Puller of Kenwood HS and Lyndse Hokanson of South River HS.
The NFHS National Student Leadership Conference provides a forum for adult and student leaders from around the country discussing contemporary issues facing athletics and activity programs. The goal of the curriculum is to develop leadership skills that enhance sportsmanship, promote teamwork, time management, perspective, inclusion, healthy lifestyle, community service and uphold the positive values that years of research have substantiated as a benefit of participation. The curriculum is specifically developed for the high school age group and is taught by college and adult facilitators. Both small and large group interactive discussions will be used to deal with these issues and assist in the delegates creating their own solutions in meeting these challenges.
