The 2018 State Baseball Champions all had to grind out tough wins in their title games against staunch competition.  Two schools won their first ever state baseball titles while two others added to their state title count after a sixteen year wait.  Click on the links below for the State Final and Semifinal results along with the complete tournament brackets for each classification.

Title play began on Friday night with Class 4A as Howard posted their first state title with a comeback win, 5-4.  On Saturday, play began with Class 1A who kept the excitement meter on high as Boonsboro also won in comeback fashion in nine innings, 12-9 for their third state crown but first since 2002.  Class 2A took the field next where Century, in their first ever state tournament appearance, won their first state championship, 4-1.  Play concluded Saturday night as Governor Thomas Johnson won 3-2 to hoist the state champs trophy for the fourth overall time but first in sixteen years.  The final piece of tournament hardware, the Paul Fahrner Sportsmanship Award, went to Saint Michael's.  Way to "Respect the Game"!!

The MPSSAA appreciates the hard work and flexibility of our schools and athletic departments in completing the region tournament on time in spite of an overabundance of rain.  Everyone's spirit of cooperation allowed the State tournament to take place as scheduled and we thank you!  Thanks also go to our State Semifinal host sites, site directors, and the field crews at Povich field in Bethesda, Joe Cannon Stadium in Harmans, Harford Community College in Bel Air, and McCurdy Field in Frederick.  It also goes without saying how indebted we are to State Committee Director Jason Woodward along with the administration and staff at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium for the use of their fantastic facility to hold our event.  The level of cooperation that we receive is spectacular year after year and we look forward to returning again next year.  See you there in 2019!
