Class 3A got the State Finals at UMBC underway in exciting fashion on Thursday when Reservoir edged Urbana in overtime, 3-2 for their second state title.  On Friday, Class 4A Thomas Wootton hoisted their first ever boys' state soccer title by topping Severna Park, 3-1.  Play continued on Saturday, with the Class 1A match up where Brunswick took down Washington, 7-2 for their 2nd state title and first since 1990. The tournament wrapped up as defending champ Marriotts Ridge won their 4th state crown, all in a row when they outscored Queen Anne's, 4-0.  The tournament Sportsmanship Award recipient was Brunswick HS.

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout as we all battled the lingering storm effects. Our sincerest gratitude to the State Boys' Soccer Committee, especially Director Bob Sheffler, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of planning leading up to this culminating event. Once again, we cannot thank UMBC enough for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide first class facilities for our soccer championships.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support. Hope to see you again next fall!
