Jennifer Henderson, head girl's soccer coach at Leonardtown High School, recently won the NISOA High School Merit Award.
Presented annually to a high school coach who promotes soccer and the ideals of sportsmanship, Jennifer received the award January 18 at a breakfast held during The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) convention in Baltimore.
During the 2007 campaign, the Lady Raiders entered the state tournament as the number two seed and advanced to the regional final game where they lost to Severna Park 1-0 in over time. They finished the year 14-3.
In 2006 Coach Henderson led the team to a Class 4A state title, which was its first since they won the Class 3A championship in 1998.
Congratulations to Coach Henderson on her achievement - this award is the epitome of "respecting the game."
