2008 State Champions Prove Mettle Against Tough Opponents 12/1/2008      The 2008 Football Championships wrapped up this weekend at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.  The chilly temperatures and precipitation on two of the 3 days could not dampen the enthusiastic crowds in the stands or the spirited play on the field.  Congratulations to our Champions and Finalists for the memorable seasons and moments that they gave us.     Thank you also to all of the many workers who made this event so successful as well as the members of the state tournament committee for their hard work and organization this season.  Without the many thankless hours put in by people "behind the scenes", events of this magnitude could not be conducted.     The Championship results are as follows : Thursday, 12/4 - - Class 3A Final: Westlake defeated Wilde Lake, 13-0. Friday, 12/5 - - Class 4A Final: Sherwood defeated Linganore, 21-3. Saturday, 12/6 - - Class 1A Final: Dunbar defeated Fort Hill, 20-19.                           - - Class 2A Final: River Hill defeated Eastern Technical, 31-6.
