The MPSSAA maintains a tradition of hosting the state championship finals at some of the finest facilities in the state of Maryland. While the majority of sites are on a year to year basis, it has become a tradition for the state high school championships to be held at certain venues annually, much to the delight of both the MPSSAA and operators of each venue.
Currently the MPSSAA hosts 21 of 24 state championships at Division I collegiate sites or professional sports facilities. The lone exceptions include the boys and girls state Cross Country Championships, annually held at what is considered the toughest cross country course in the state at Hereford High School in Baltimore County and the Dual Meet Wrestling Championships which is conducted annually at a high school venue.
