Tuesday's (5/24) slate of games began with Glenelg edging Patterson Mill 5-4 for the Class 2A/1A title and ended with the 3A/2A title match where Hereford bested Middletown, 14-7.  The third and final boys championship game was the Class 4A/3A tilt where Linganore edged South River in a seesaw battle of potent offenses on Wednesday (5/25).  Linganore hoisted the first ever state lacrosse championship for a Frederick County.  Meanwhile another Frederick County school, Middletown HS, took home the tournament sportsmanship award.

The MPSSAA appreciates the hard work and flexibility of our schools and athletic departments in completing the region tournament on time in spite of an overabundance of rain. Everyone's spirit of cooperation allowed the State tournament to take place as scheduled and we thank you.  Thanks also go to our State Semifinal host sites, the school administrations, the athletic departments, and especially the athletic directors at Arundel HS, Annapolis HS, and Bel Air HS.  It also goes without saying how indebted we are to the athletic department at UMBC and their staff for the use of Retreiver Stadium to hold our event.  The level of cooperation that we receive is spectacular year after year and we look forward to returning again next year.  See you there in 2012!
