The 2015 State Cross Country Championships have raced to a successful close today at breezy Hereford HS as a new girls State and Class 4A record was set by Maria Coffin of Annapolis.  Her time of 18:25.3 broke the old record by 0.9 seconds.  Complete State Championship race results for each classification and gender are available in the links below.

In Class 4A, the Dulaney boys hoisted the championship trophy for the first time in 32 years while the Walter Johnson girls claimed their 7th state title.  The River Hill boys won their 6th state title and the Centennial girls their third state crown in the Class 3A races.  The Class 2A titles went to the Liberty boys and Hereford girls who won their 4th and 9th state titles respectively.  Boonsboro swept the Class 1A titles as their boys won for a second consecutive year and their girls attained their 6th state title.
On the individual side of the ledger in the morning races, Maria Coffin of Annapolis and Dulaney's Eric Walz took the gold medals in Class 4A while Matt Bennett of Northern-Calvert and Annie Imhof of Great Mills were awarded the gold medals in Class 3A.  In the afternoon races, Patuxent's Hayley Jackson and South Carroll's Brian Cave were the gold medalists for Class 2A while in Class 1A Will Merritt of Smithsburg and Haley Wright of Boonsboro won gold medals.
The MPSSAA would like to once again thank Hereford High School, Athletic Director Mike Kalisz and his staff for hosting the State Meets as only they can do.  Our sincere thanks to the the State Cross Country Committee lead by Director Michael Sye for their commitment, time, and effort in not only managing the region meets but all of the State meets as well.  We appreciate the team effort that it takes to make an event of this magnitude run so smoothly.  We look forward to seeing everyone out on the hills again next year!!
